For homeowners, spring can be a double-edged sword. While there is certainly more to look forward to, spring can also mean tuning into a home’s needs, particularly parts of the home that are affected by things like temperatures and moisture.

For garage door owners in Illinois and Indiana, here’s a look into what warming temperatures can mean for your garage door.

Moisture and Humidity Can Be Problematic

March can be a month with a lot of humidity and a lot of moisture, often in the form of rain or snow. For garage doors, this can be problematic. Humidity can lead to a host of issues, including issues with moving parts, expansion, and even damage to the garage door itself (especially if the door is made of wood).

You can also insulate the walls of your garage.

As temperatures warm up, now’s the perfect time to assess your garage door and perform maintenance where needed. Not only do you have the excuse of the cold to prevent you from performing maintenance, but over the winter, damage and wear and tear is possible, so spring is a necessary time to make sure everything is in working order.
